The course also emphasizes the understanding of the fundamentals of relational systems and database manipulations. The course also provides an understanding of process and procedure of database and trends such as  data warehousing and data mining. The course uses a problem-based approach to learning.

Course image CST404 - Thesis 2021/04 Md Iftekhar Salam

The thesis work commences in the second semester of the fourth year. The student will be required to select a supervisor and work closely with the supervisor on an ICT related topic. The student and the supervisor shall discuss and mutually agree on a topic, where the topics will differ among students. The student shall meet the supervisor weekly to discuss the progress of the thesis. At the end of this course, the student shall produce a substantial thesis and defend it. The thesis is expected to be at least 10,000 words. An oral examination will be conducted together with the evaluation of the written thesis.

The course covers an overview of common graphics hardware, 2D and 3D transformations and viewing, and basic raster graphics concepts such as scan-conversion, bitBLT, and clipping. Methods for modeling objects as polygonal meshes or smooth surfaces, and as rendering such as hidden-surface removal, shading, illumination, and shadows will be introduced.
