This course exposes students to both the theory and practice of Islamic banking. The focus is on Islamic banking principles and concepts,
their developments, Islamic financial products and financing, and the Shariah supervision. It provides an overview of the deposit and financing
framework, standards, and practices of Islamic banking operations. An Islamic worldview and its relationship to deposit and financing
products are discussed. Furthermore, this course offers learners an understanding of specific types and structures of deposit products
for both systems. Clarifying within the context of Malaysia, a thoughtful justification between trade and riba will be provided to provide an
understanding to students that Islamic financing is developed by referring to the primary sources, the Quran and Hadith. Islamic contract
and various financing products are also highlighted such as Islamic personal financing, and Islamic home financing. Furthermore, issues,
rules, and regulations related to deposit and financing practices, and corporate governance in Islamic banking are discussed.
