The second part covers some contemporary environmental issues namely energy and global warming, water and wastewater management, solid waste management where the students learning will be approaching these issues through problem based learning.

This course is divided into 2 parts. The first part is about basic inorganic chemical industry. Production principle and the corresponding technological arrangements for syngas preparation, water gas shift reaction, syngas purification and ammonia synthesis are taught in this part. The second part is about basic organic chemical industry. The technologies for hydrocarbon steam cracking, catalytic oxidation, hydrogenation and dehydrogenation are introduced in this part.

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Analyze and evaluate (synthesize) information relevant to the specific research area through literature survey.
  • Formulate problem statements, research objectives and scopes.
  • Design the research methodology.
  • Prepare and defend research proposal with effective communication skills.

This course is divided into 2 parts. The first part is general introduction, to know about the principles of practical geometry. The second part is learning about the various methods and standards to draw chemical engineering drawing using CAD method.

This course will enable students to:

  • Demonstrate comprehension of the concepts and principles in practical geometry for chemical equipment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills in utilising computer aided design (CAD) tools to prepare 2D and 3D models and parts.
