The course is designed to provide training in the operation and management of biology and chemistry laboratories that will be utilized by the students during the Masters research. Throughout the course, students will also learn the principle of general laboratory safety, biosafety and biosecurity in biotechnology experiments. Operation and maintenance of the basic and advance equipment for biology and chemistry laboratory will also be covered. Students will also learn how to manage undergraduate biology and chemistry laboratories with the guidance of the lecturer and lab executive.
The course is designed to introduce students to experimental planning for the Masters research. In this course, student will learn the principles for basic and specific methodologies of Marine Biotechnology. Students will also develop skills and competencies in protocols and procedures required for postgraduate study including in vitro, in vivo, in silico, survey and basic statistical methodologies. At the end of the course, students are required to submit a methodology proposal for the topic of their postgraduate study.
