This course is divided into 2 parts. The first part is about basic inorganic chemical industry. Production principle and the corresponding technological arrangements for syngas preparation, water gas shift reaction, syngas purification and ammonia synthesis are taught in this part. The second part is about basic organic chemical industry. The technologies for hydrocarbon steam cracking, catalytic oxidation, hydrogenation and dehydrogenation are introduced in this part.

The course aims to enhance students research capabilities in the process of conducting experiments or simulation works, performing research project independently, writing the research report and presenting the research findings.
At the end of the course, students will be able to:
1.     Perform research investigation using appropriate research skills and methodologies.
2.     Develop solutions, analyze and interpret data independently.
3.     Present the research findings effectively via report writing.
Deliver research findings effectively via oral and poster presentation.
