The course introduces knowledge on editing in the information age, the fundamentals of editing, and the process of editing for different media, including the print media, the broadcast media and the new media. Students also learn on the technique of editing by design concept and design pages on computers by using relevant desktop publishing software while critically assessing the content of the pages.
This course provides an overview of the foundational principles and basic issues of media ethics and law. Different ethical theories (such as categorical imperative, golden mean, utilitarianism, potter box) and laws including international and local laws are discussed based on the relevant case studies.
