First aid refers to the emergency or immediate care provided when a person is injured or ill until full medical treatment is available. For minor conditions, first aid care may be enough. For serious problems, first aid care should be continued until more advanced care becomes available. The decision to act appropriately with first aid can mean the difference between life and death. This course gives a basic introduction to the condition or emergency situation, then describes the common signs and symptoms and first aid treatment. The list of signs and symptoms focuses on the key features of the condition so you can recognize it and offer the appropriate initial first aid treatment.
The Pre-Internship TCM Proficiency Exam (PITPE) is designed to assess students’ fundamental knowledge, clinical skills, and professional readiness before entering clinical internships. This exam ensures that all students meet the minimum competency requirements in both theoretical and practical aspects of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is conducted every semester as part of the School’s quality assurance process to maintain high standards of training and patient care.
Microbiology is one of the most essential knowledge on how we deal with pathogenic organisms which cause human diseases. It covers both medical and molecular aspects of bacteriology, virology, mycology, parasitology and immunity to various infections. Our understanding of pathogenic microorganisms and their interactions with humans enable the development of numerous therapeutic agents and preventive alternatives for combating infectious diseases.
| Medical ethics is an essential component of medicine curriculum. It is designed with the purpose of delivering ethical theories and practical skills for medical students to be able to identify, analyze, and resolve ethical problems arising from clinical settings and the wider biomedical context. It is expected that by mastering ethical principles and skills, medical students would be able to choose between options and conduct things that ought to be done for a given patient in a given clinical settings in an ethical warranted manner. Moreover, this course helps students gain insights into the patient-physician relationship from the patient’s perspective as well as the physician’s, so that a harmonious relationship between doctors and patients can be expected. Finally, by introducing this course to students in pre-clinical year, we hope to make the transition from a morally responsible student to a morally responsible physician more logical, more meaningful, and more certain. |
| This course aims to cover the biochemical investigation in the diagnosis and management of disease where the students will able to understand a closer view of the principles behind the use of diagnostic investigations. This course aims to focus on the choice and interpretation of investigations in the diagnosis and management of conditions where biochemical testing plays a key role. The content of course will covers clinical biochemistry and metabolic medicine in understanding the underlying mechanism of disease. |

"Anatomy", which belongs to the category of morphology in the biological sciences, is the study of the morphological structure of normal human body science. Systematic anatomy learning aims to help students understand and grasp normal morphology and structural characteristics of every organ system in the human bodies as well as to provide the morphological basis necessary for learning other basic medicine and preventive medicine curriculum.
Western Medicine diagnostics, according to the basic theory of medicine is a clinical discipline by using history taking information, look (inspection), touch (palpation & percussion), listen (auscultation) and investigation to diagnose diseases. This course will impart the basis of theoretical and clinical knowledge of diagnostics, equip students with the ability to diagnose patients with common disease and to guide suitable investigation and basic treatment.
