The students will be exposed to design principles of Printed circuit board (PCB) throughout the course. They will be taught theory linked to PCB design principles, safety concerns and software tool of NI Multisim and Ultiboard for PCB fabrication. This course will bridge the gap between the industry and academia to build the skills for future engineering career as PCB/hardware design engineer.
At the end of the course, students will be able to:
1. Explain the important aspects of efficient electrical energy utilization.
2. Analyze the problems related to the economic aspects of demand side management, efficient energy equipment, and renewable energy generation.
3. Evaluate energy saving solution based on given energy data.
This is a capstone design project. The objective is to enhance students’ skill and capability in complex engineering problem analysis and solving, system design, project implementation and management. The grouping shall be such that the work is divisible individually and the report is to be compiled from the individual task allocated.
Power system analysis is important to safeguard the reliability and security of electric power systems, from generation to transmission and distribution. In this course, students will learn transmission system, load flows, power system faults, as well as the stability of the power system. Students will also gain exposure to power system analysis software that is dedicated to analyze complex power systems.
This subject is intended to give the students deep knowledge about high voltage engineering. It focuses on the phenomena of high voltage surges and insulation coordination for power systems, characteristics of conduction and breakdown of gas, liquid and solid dielectrics. Generation of high voltages, their measurement and testing technique for high voltage components. In this subject, the student are also exposed to lightning phenomena and their protection
This course covers topics related to power quality standards such as types of power quality problems which is able to influence the quality of power system and harmonic distortion. The techniques to monitor power quality and power quality improvement also will be covered in this course.
It is an elective subjects for electrical engineering in 4th year
