Principles of Finance copy 1
This course divides the financial system
through a functional perspective, and adopts logical means to interpret the
whole field of the financial issues involved. The course mainly relates to the
basic descriptions of the financial and monetary system, covers basic problems
such as time and resource allocation, valuation models, risk management,
portfolio theory, asset pricing, and corporate finance. The course contents
could be divided into five parts: introduction to financial system, time money
value, pricing model, risk management and portfolio management, and
no-arbitrage pricing. They are expected to provide students with basic ideas
about how the financial system works, basic skills in financial practice, and a
solid foundation for further study in this field. This course is also committed
to providing a panoramic description of the financial sectors, and sorts out
the knowledge into a logical framework. Students can choose the content
according to their preferences and better understand the logical relationship
between the various components of the financial sector.
Introduction to Entrepreneurship
This module introduces the fundamentals of entrepreneurship and small business theory and practice. The module presents a wide-ranging overview of the place of entrepreneurship in academic theory with a focus on how the decision to become an entrepreneur is impacted both by internal and external factors. The module is intended to give a rigorous and honest insight into the realities of entrepreneurial activity and an understanding of the role small and medium sized businesses play in a modern economy. |

This course extends students understanding of making investment and financial decisions in an international context. Students will be taught on how MNCs make investment and financial decisions in a world of uncertainty.

This course extends typical topics in investments with in depth treatment. Students will expose to portfolio theory and applications and managed those portfolio to suit investors risk-return profile and investment objectives.

Portfolio Management Oct2018
This is an integrative
course in investments. The nature of investor objectives, their risk tolerance,
asset allocation decisions and performance evaluation issues will be explored.
To reinforce the major concepts of the course, students will participate in a
real-life exercise of portfolio management. The second half of this course
delves into security analysis, which is concerned with the selection and timing
of financial and real securities. In this course we will be involved with the
analysis, selection and trading of common stock, bonds, mutual funds and
exchange-traded funds. Issues concerning macroeconomics, industry and sector
analysis, alternate (qualitative and quantitative) methods of valuation, the
timing of buy/sell decisions, etc. will also be probed into.
Risk Management (FIN303)
The objectives of this course are to:
1. Identify the types of risks in the financial markets and describe how the risks are related with each other in the business and financial market.
2. Demonstrate the basic understanding of root causes of the common risk management mistakes in the trading and operational of the firms and financial institutions.
3. Perform quantitative risk analysis using the basic risk measurement tools to assess the financial risks in the market.
4. Construct a basic risk management strategy for a business firm or a financial institution in a systematic way.
